Palais Garnier or Opera Garnier Details and Photos

by - February 11, 2018

To be honest, this is one of the highlights of my trip. Planning the itinerary for Paris, I saw how beautiful and elegant this place appeared on pictures. Not only that, if you are a Filipino, you have probably heard that Dra. Vicky Belo and Dr. Hayden Kho extravagantly wed in this place. They spent a whooping 80 million pesos for their celebrity-packed wedding! And since that just happened in September (2 months before our trip) and it was all over the news, I got sooo excited that I can go to that place.

Palais Garnier or Opera Garnier was the very first attraction we visited in Paris. Here are few things you may need to know in planning your itinerary:

1. Plan ahead. Really! There will be days that the place will be closed due to private functions or events. The good news is that you can see the schedule online and buy your tickets too if you like.

Check their booking page HERE!

2. Admission is 12.00. Children under 12 years old are free.

Admission to the public areas, includes:
Opera Library-Museum, Rotonde des Abonnés, Bassin de la Pythie, Grand Staircase, Grand Foyer, Avant-Foyer, Salons de la lune et du soleil

3. Operating Hours is from 10AM to 5PM

4. Nearest Train Stations: Metro lines 3,7,8 (Opera Station) RER A (Auber Station)

5. Need more details? Check THIS page.

We took RER A train from Chatelet Les Halles station and get off at Auber Station. Once you exit, Opera Garnier is located at the back.

We didn't bought tickets online so we went straight to the ticket office. Luckily, there's no line and there's not much people.

Okay, sooo let's talk about this grand staircase. This is so IG-worthy! I probably spent most of my time here.

And that's just the stairs, if you look around, you'll get more mesmerized on how luxurious the place is. Every corner have an extra-ordinary detail, it will make you feel like a princess in a palace.

We weren't able to see the auditorium but we saw the Grand Foyer. Just when I thought I am so amazed with the Staircase, Grand Foyer is just next level. So luxurious! I mean look at the pictures below...

Bulk of our time were spent in the Grand Staircase and the Grand Foyer. We have to be reminded that we still have more attractions in our day's itinerary (including the Eiffel tower!) just so we can leave. As we exit, we passed through a hall with paintings and a library.

After Palais Garnier, we will go to Arc de Triomphe then Eiffel Tower! So exciting!
