Kiyomizudera Temple Kyoto Japan

You can't miss out on Kiyomizudera temple, it's definitely one of the biggest and most popular temples in Kyoto. It can also be a bit too crowded so plan your visit. I recommend going early in the morning like we did.

For more details on our One day itinerary in Kyoto, please check this blog. :) - One Day Itinerary in Kyoto

Entrance Fee : JPY 400.00
Operating Hours: 6:00 to 18:00

How to get here:
From Kyoto Station, ride bus 100 to Kiyomizu-michi bus stop which is around 15 minutes away then walk back towards the stop light then cross the street, walk uphill til you reach the temple. Need some walk path guide? I got it for you--- click here! that's around 11 minutes walk.

Why do you need to go here?

- This place is actually listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Like.. isn't that enough for a reason?
- Night Illuminations during Autumn and Spring
- Aside from the popularly photographed main hall which stood 13 meters above the hillside, there are other attractions here too, like the Jishu Shrine which is dedicated to the deity of love and matchmaking (hear that single hoomans out there? oh yeah!).
Right at the base of the main hall is the Otowa Waterfall. I wonder why too many students gather around waiting for their turn to drink from the stream, I soon learned that one of the streams has a benefit of being successful at school, the other benefits are longevity and fortunate love life. Drinking from all three streams is considered greedy though, sooo..

There are pagodas around the temple ground. You can spot one immediately at the entrance or before the ticketing office. Then there's a three-storied pagoda at the southern end of the temple grounds.

Pictures above and below are actually the same pagoda taken in different angles. This is the pagoda at the entrance.

We went here towards the end of autumn but it still got the color. What more if we can visit this place again while autumn is full bloom! Just a thought of it makes me excited. Geez... Other parts of the ground is just as picturesque.
